Teacher Training Colleges extol exceptional smart screens given by Rwanda Basic Education Bord
On 3rd October, 2023, Rwanda Basic Education Board gave sixteen smart screens to Teacher Training College principles which will help the schools to enhance quality education.
It is in that line that DG REB Dr. Nelson Mbarushimana met 16 Teacher Training College principles at REB headquarters to hand over smart screens to them , which will help students, teachers and TTC principles to reach the common goal of enhancing quality education in Rwanda
In his remarks DG REB argues that smart screens are for helping the schools, community around and the region to be transformed through ICT usage which will help the teachers who are trained in the TTCs to be familiar with ICT tools such that they operate the gadgets easily when they find them at teaching schools by the time they will be appointed as teachers.
“These smart screens are multi-purpose materials and you are requested to go and use them properly in your schools because they have the capacity to connect the TTC principle, teachers and students such as in video conferences, Peer learning and research activities. We shall increase the number of smart screens and internet connectivity not only in your schools but in other schools as it is in our mandates.” Dr. Nelson said
Ag. Head of ICT in education Department Mrs. SENGATI UWAYISENGA Diane said that smart screens are there to help students and teachers in learning activities and lesson delivery such as displaying prepared content as well as using them as white board. These machines have capacity to operate as the normal screens, at the same time as white board and projector screens.
This technology will help students and teachers to learn in a conducive environment where students feel comfortable as well as their teacher whereby if a teacher needs a board, computer, projector colored markers and other teaching materials will find them in one gadget (Smart Screen).
Our students will learn from their teachers and be able to operate the machines either in work presentation of their assignments or in their research. She added.
Teacher Training College principles were happy to earn these ICT gadgets in their schools which will help them in ICT in education. The smart screens are going to connect them in sharing sharing thoughts, innovations and various information.
These smart screens are going to connect our schools in sharing information and experience. For instance if there was a meeting TTC principles, we could find a conference room , which could lead us in responsibility fulfilment failure such as poor time management and economy expenses since we use fuel for our transport and leave uncompleted work at our schools but now, we shall connect ourselves with the use of screens and meet online without movement. TTC RUBENGERA Principle, Yves MURIHIRA said
A teacher can play a video immediately without the process of downloading but with internet connectivity a teacher can do whatever he/she wants, and the smart screen helps in the content delivery with no need of other materials such as colored chalks, dusters or a chalk board because these boards are multipurpose. We have a task of maintaining them. Mr. Yves added
After receiving ICT gargets, TTC principles visited REB Multimedia Production Studios and expressed their gratitude to Rwanda Basic Education Board to have put in place the studio, and requested to be invited for the talk shows where needed.
